Kmeť Waterfall, High Tatras
Slovakia
Kmeť Waterfall falls about 80 m in two steps on the Nefcerka stream, in a side valley of Kôprová dolina in the western High Tatras. It is usually given as the tallest waterfall in Slovakia. The name honours Andrej Kmeť, a nineteenth century Slovak priest, botanist and co-founder of the Slovak National Museum.
The trail ends at a viewing platform below the fall, after a long forest walk up Kôprová dolina from Podbanské. The waterfall is at its fullest after heavy rain or during the spring thaw, when the stream is loud enough to drown out the rain itself and spray drifts over the spruces.
